The title though sounds invalid, but it’s true. You can use google map to view map of any place even without internet simply by using this process. Google maps offline becomes necessary when you have to go to some rural places where telecom or wifi network becomes very poor
Here we have discussed procedures for iOs & android (Gingerbread, ICS, Jellybean & Kitkat).
In case of iOs the methods are quite similar to that of in androids so here are the steps.
FOR ANDROID VERSIONS 4.0 or ABOVE
STEP-1
For this you must have a smartphone with google map app installed. And make sure that you have the google map of latest version installed.(You can get the updated google map from Google play stores)
STEP-2
Enable your DATAPACK or WIFI its upto you and search for the location in the map that you want to view offline later. Once the map is completely loaded type "OK Maps" in the search bar which is located at the top of the app and scroll down and hit save it for offline use
When you are saving you can name that particular with the name you preffer for example say it as My first offline Map
SOME IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT OFFLINE MAPS
- Each saved map lasts for 30 days. After that it is automatically erased to clear your memory.
- In offline mode (without internet connection) navigation is not possible. Only you can view the maps.
FOR ANDROID 2.3 GINGER BREAD
STEP-1
Open the google maps app
- Go to options >more>make available offline.
Place the location of the map you want to make it available offline on the screen and then hit the “Done” button.
In this version the map going to be stored cant be greater than 1 MB
If you want to store larger maps slice into pieces and store
